    I'm sure this must have been suggested long ago, but I'd at least like
    to know why it is not part of common lisp:

MULTIPLE-VALUE-CALL.  (Naively, MULTIPLE-VALUE-BIND is a macro that
turns into MULTIPLE-VALUE-CALL with a lambda-list of
	(&optional ,@varlist &rest ignore)
